Who I Serve

Adults

Individual therapy is a process of becoming more deeply connected to oneself to enhance meaning, fulfillment, and ease in life. Being human is messy, and none of us are immune to the mess, yet many of us have deep difficulty loving and nurturing our messy parts. Many times we feel “not good enough” when our heart breaks and we need support in learning how to identify and soothe the origins of our self criticism. Life is also often messy and throws us circumstances that break us open and we need a safe place to be seen, heard, and understood in our tenderness.

Survivors of Trauma

I am training with the Somatic Experiencing Institute and in my final year of certification. Somatic Experiencing was developed by Peter Levine and is a whole body approach that addresses trauma recovery and opens pathways for healing and increased integration. I help guide a person through experiences that engage the body and mind with subtle awareness of sensations, images, behaviors, movement, emotion and meaning. Moving gently between perception of tension and openness allows resourcing and balance to occur within the nervous system and body. This begins to address the root causes of symptoms and allows the mind and body to relate in a new and more empowering manner.

Families

Each family has unique strengths and challenges, and I bring a sense of curiosity and openness to understanding how to best support a family’s needs. This can include engaging activities to support communication, value based explorations to understand competing needs that can result in conflict, and a variety of tools to support families in resolving tension.

Parents +

Caregivers

Being a parent and/or caregiver is a vulnerable endeavor. While I believe each parent has intentions to best support their children, each parent is also a human and can, at times, get lost in their efforts to provide the best environment. In fact, I think the cultural message of providing the “best” environment contributes to our challenge! Parent consultation can include practical strategies to identify and develop a plan to address challenging dynamics, emotional support to better understand parents’ triggers, and developing tools to enhance kind and firm boundaries.
